An attractive campus university located in a historic and vibrant city, York is home to a prestigious, lively and international community of students and academics. From its founding in 1963, the university has grown to include 15,000 graduate and postgraduate students from over 120 countries, pursuing subjects across the social sciences, arts and humanities, and natural sciences. As a member of the prestigious Russell Group of elite UK universities, York’s research and teaching profile is recognized as achieving the highest standards of academic excellence. University life is centered around a landscaped campus on the city’s edge that is green, friendly and easy to get around.

Mundus MAPP’s home is in the Department of Politics. With over ten master degree programmes, students will join an intellectually diverse community of nearly two hundred Politics MA students. Mundus MAPP is most closely linked to the MA in Public Administration and Public Policy. Students can also take elective courses from other MA programmes including Conflict, Development and Governance; International Relations; Applied Human Rights; among others. The Mundus MAPP curriculum aims to provide students with an understanding of the complex issues surrounding the formation, implementation and evaluation of public policy across local, national and global levels. Courses are generally organized as weekly small-group seminars with an emphasis on group work, presentations and case studies. Mundus MAPP students write a dissertation in the summer term, which is supported by close supervision and a series of dissertation workshops. Our graduates have gone on to pursue outstanding careers in government, international NGOs, the private sector, and academia.

Mobility tracks involving York are recommended for students seeking a solid foundation in public policy analysis and public administration, combined with an interest in governance and development (with ISS) or European Public Policy (with CEU).
