Erasmus Mundus Visiting Scholarships for Academics/Policy Professionals in MUNDUS MAPP
The Erasmus Mundus Master’s Program in Public Policy (Mundus MAPP) is a two-year-long international joint master’s program funded by the European Commission, and jointly offered by Central European University PU (Austria), the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam (the Netherlands), the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (Spain), and the University of York (UK).
The Mundus MAPP Consortium hosts visiting scholars/practitioners holding an outstanding academic/professional profile. They may come from both Program and Partner countries and their involvement should bring added value to the program in terms of student-centered lectures or seminars, skills training, research activities, thesis support, academic/professional networking, etc. The scholars receive from the European Commission a generous Erasmus Mundus Visiting Scholarship. The Consortium has open visiting scholar positions for the 2025-2026 academic year for 2-4 week periods spent at Central European University PU, Austria;[1] International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands; the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals, Spain; or at the University of YORK, UK.
Applicants must have a PhD degree and academic teaching and/or policy related practitioner experience. Visiting scholars are expected to contribute to running courses and/or giving public lectures and/or participate in research seminars and/or provide thesis supervision support at the host institutions. Qualified Mundus MAPP alumni are encouraged to apply. Central European University PU (Austria) particularly welcomes applications from candidates who can offer short (2-3h) online workshops (aimed at Mundus MAPP students across the partner institutions) which seek to enhance digital competencies relevant to policy-making and analysis. Scholars are expected to help disseminate Mundus MAPP activities and achievements.
Interested academics should elaborate on their proposed contribution to Mundus MAPP in their application form. The exact contribution will be laid down in an agreement between the visiting scholar and the Mundus MAPP Consortium. Financial contribution for the visiting scholars: gross 1.500 EUR/week (max. gross 6.000 EUR for the whole duration of the visit). Scholars are responsible for familiarizing themselves with relevant tax obligations and complying with applicable regulations.
The visiting period should be between:
- May 1 – June 12, 2026 for CEU
- May 1 – June 12, 2026 for ISS
- November 3 – December 19, 2025 OR February 2 – May 31, 2026 for IBEI
- February 2 – May 31, 2026 for YORK
