Juan Carlos Trivino Salazar, a graduate of the ISS-IBEI track, has been selected postdoctoral fellow at IBEI in the framework of the research project TransCrisis- Enhancing the EU’s Transboundary Crisis Management Capacities funded by the Horizon 2020 Programme of the European Union. Led by the London School of Economics, TransCrisis examines the crisis management capacities of the EU’s multilateral governance system. This includes a focus on tools, instruments, actors, norms and values related to the EU’s role as a manager of different kinds of crises, and how those capacities can be made more effective and legitimate. CEU is also part of the Transcrisis project consortium.
Juan Carlos’ research engages with questions about public policy, political participation and inclusion, local politics and immigration and integration, and recently was affiliated with the Department of Political and Social Sciences at Pompeu Fabra University. His PhD thesis is about the alliances that emerge between political parties and immigrant associations in the presence of politicized immigration conflicts at the local level. In addition to his Mundus MAPP degree, Juan Carlos also holds an MSc in European Relations (Linköping University-Sweden).
