The Mundus MAPP programme imparted on me the necessary skills and competencies in Public Policy and Development Programming. The programme is very comprehensive, with the right mix of theory and practice. The double MA has widened opportunities for employment, consulting and potential for further academic endeavors.
I went through the Institute of Social Studies (ISS) and Central European University (CEU) mobility track. Quite a highly exciting track, both academically and socially. The ISS was very solid in the theoretical underpinnings of the development discourse – very useful when one engages in both formal and informal academic debates, and in understanding the aspects of power and interests as drivers of (under)development at both the local and the global level. On the other hand, CEU was very much hands-on in its approach to Public Policy and practice, exposing students to real life situations in the policy and development field. A truly interesting and practically useful combination of programmes, offered by two reputable institutions of higher learning. The learning environment at CEU is, put simply, amazing; and the Budapest experience is awesome!
