You need to submit an

submission of the application form itself as well as all other relevant documentation,
including academic records, CV-s and resumes, letters of recommendation, and
application essays (such as statements of purpose, research proposals, etc.).
Candidates will be requested to mail official copies of their academic records
to the CEU Admissions Office only upon acceptance.
2) What is the deadline for applications?
If you wish to be considered for an Erasmus Mundus Category A or an Erasmus
Mundus Category B Scholarship, you need to ensure that you submit the on-line
application form by January 4, 2012, 24:00 Pacific Standard Time (PST).
Your application documents must also contain your language test score report
in order to be considered for a scholarship.
If you do not wish to apply for financial aid (because you intend to
finance your studies from other sources) you may submit your application until
May 4, 2012, 24:00 Pacific Standard Time (PST).
3) How do I apply for an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship?
If you wish to be considered and are eligible for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship
you should indicate this in the on-line application form. There is no separate
application form to fill in.
4) I come from a country where English is one of the
official languages. Am I also required to provide a proof of my English proficiency?
Mundus MAPP does not require a language certificate from applicants from
the following countries, provided that they have received a Bachelor's or
Master'sdegree taught exclusively in English:
Australia, Botswana, Canada, Gambia, Ghana, Ireland, Kenya, Liberia,
Malawi, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda (English-speaking
region), South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, UK, USA and Zambia
Applicants from countries other than these may request a waiver from the English language admissions requirement if they hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree taught exclusively in English from a university or college in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, USA, the Europan Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland.
All other applicants will need to provide evidence of their English language skills with any one ofthe following test scores:
TOEFL (Computer-based; taken on/after February 11, 2010) 237 or above; OR
TOEFL (Paper version; taken on/after February 11, 2010) 580 or above; OR
TOEFL (Internet version; taken on/after February 11, 2010) 92 or above; OR
International English Language Test (IELTS; taken on/after February 11, 2010)
6.5 or above; OR
Cambridge Proficiency Examination (taken on/after February 11, 2007) C or
above; OR
Cambridge Advanced English Test (taken on/after February 11, 2007) B or above.
5) Is a proof of Spanish proficiency also required for
applicants who whish to pursue the study track including IBEI?
No, it is not a requirement, however, it would be good for us to see your
knowledge in Spanish in advance. Courses at IBEI will be available in English
as well, but those students who speak Spanish too will have a wider variety
of courses to choose from.
6) What is an 'official translation' of my degrees and
transcripts?
You will find guidelines on this at http://www.ceu.hu/admissions/apply#3.
7) What is an 'official' recommendation letter like?
You will find guidelines on this at http://www.ceu.hu/admissions/apply#2.
8) Can I submit my recommendation letters in hard copy?
Yes. Applicants need to register their referees in the on-line application
form, who will be automatically notified via email about this and be instructed
on how to proceed with the letters of recommendation. They may opt for either
submitting their recommendation on-line or in hard copy. For a hard copy they
have to download a recommendation letter form which they must use for writing
their recommendation. The letter must reach the CEU Admissions Office in a
sealed envelope which is also signed by the referees across the seal. The
hard copies must also reach the CEU Admissions Office by the application deadlines.
9) May I submit an application in the final year of my
undergraduate studies?
Yes. Applicants in the process of completing a degree program must submit an interim
transcript and, in place of the diploma, a certificate of enrollment confirming their student
status and, if possible, stating their expected date of graduation.
10) I would like to send my application package to a
CEU degree program, but the Embark application system does not allow me to
do so without uploading a Bachelor's transcript and diploma. However, I am
enrolled in a 5-year university program from which I will graduate with a
Master's diploma straight away, so I have no Bachelor's transcript (and degree)
to upload. How can I overcome this obstacle?
You should upload your Master's records on the Bachelor's upload pages. This
will not disadvantage you in any way.
Academic aspects (changes for the new Mundus MAPP
curricululum):
1) The mobility tracks in the on-line application form
are not the same as indicated on the website.
Mundus MAPP is launching a more integrated curriculum with different mobility
tracks. Our website provides information for the current students who are
studying in the existing mobility tracks as well as prospective applicants
who will have different options to choose from. More information on the structure
of studies please check http://www.mundusmapp.org/studies/studies.htm.
2) Until now Mundus MAPP has been awarding two degrees,
and now it will offer only one degree.
That's right. Under its new accreditation, Mundus MAPP will offer one
joint degree, MA in Public Policy.
3) Is the course list for 2012-2014 available yet?
The final full course list is not available yet, however, you will find
an overview of the courses, including all core (mandatory) courses at http://www.mundusmapp.org/studies/studies.htm.
The course descriptions (for most of the courses) are available at http://www.mundusmapp.org/studies/curr.htm.
A more detailed curriculum for the 2012-2014 cycle with the full list of elective
courses will be available before you enroll.
Financial aspects:
1) How much is the tuition fee? How do I pay it?
The tuition fees are 11,000 EUR/academic year, therefore 22,000 EUR in total
for the two years. Tuition is paid in two instalments per year and candidates
are instructed on how to make a payment to the Mundus MAPP consortium in the
letter of acceptance they receive in case they are offered a place in the
program.
Erasmus Mundus scholarship recipients are also required to pay a tuition fee
which, pursuant to the students' authorisation, is automatically deducted
from their Erasmus Mundus scholarship.
2) If I am not awarded an Erasmus Mundus scholarship
is there alternative funding available at the partner universities?
There is no alternative funding available at the partner universities for
Mundus MAPP. However, students may wish to apply to the consortium universities'
regular MA programs as well which may be able to offer other scholarship options.
Please note that for these MA programs separate application procedures are
applicable.
3) How much is the tuition fee for non-scholarship holders?
For non-scholarship holders the tuition fees are 11,000 EUR/academic year
and 22,000 EUR in total for the two years.
4) What other costs should I expect upon enrolment, and
how much should I budget for living expenses?
Candidates are advised to consult the webpages of the universities in which
they will enrol, in particular:
CEU - http://www.ceu.hu/studentlife/experience/cost-of-living
IBEI - http://www.ibei.org/web_new/eng/bcn/costVida.asp
ISS - http://www.iss.nl/Prospective-students/Settling-In
YORK - http://www.york.ac.uk/admin/intnat/before/finance/livingexpenses.htm
5) How much is the Erasmus Mundus scholarship?
There are two types of scholarship offered by the European Commission. Both
categories of scholarship recipients also receive financial support from the
Mundus MAPP universities in the form of partial tuition fee waivers (reduced
tuition fees).
Students accepted to Mundus MAPP who DO NOT come from any of the countries
listed below, and who are not residents nor have carried out their
main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over
the last five years in the countries listed below, are eligible for "Category
A" scholarships:
- Member States of the European Union,
- EEA-EFTA States (Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein).
All other students accepted to Mundus MAPP are eligible for "Category
B" scholarships, i.e., students who come from one of the countries
listed above, or have resided or conducted their main activity in one or several
of the countries listed above for more than 12 months in the past 5 years.
Financial conditions
The value of the scholarships is a total of € 48 000 for Category A, and € 20 000 for Category B for the duration of the programme (two academic years).
From this amount the Mundus MAPP consortium will deduct the Mundus MAPP tuition
fee on the basis of a written agreement whereby the student authorizes CEU
to collect the fee. The payable tuition fees will be:
€ 8,000 per academic year (16,000 total for two years) for Category A
scholarship recipients; and
€ 4,000 per academic year (8,000 total for two years) for Category B
scholarship recipients.
