Admissions:

1) Where do I need to send my application?
You need to fill in an online application form available at https://online.ceu.hu/ouis/index.jsp. In addition, you need to post all supporting documents (degrees, transcripts, proof of proficiency in English, statement of purpose, letters of recommendation) to the CEU Admissions Office. The address is Nador u 9, 1051 Budapest, Hungary.

2) What is the deadline for applications?
If you wish to be considered for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, you need to ensure that 1) you fill in the on-line application form and 2) you send all necessary supporting documents by mail to CEU's Admissions Office by January 4, 2008.
If you do not wish to apply for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship (because you intend to finance your studies from other sources) the deadline is June 1, 2008.

3) How do I apply for an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship?
If you wish to be considered and are eligible for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship you should indicate this in the Financial Aid section of the on-line application form. There is no separate application form to fill in.

4) There is not enough time for me to obtain a language proficiency certificate before the application deadline of January 4, 2008. What do I do?
If you are required to submit a proof of English language proficiency but cannot do so by the deadline, your application may still be considered. In this case you are urged to provide the proof as soon as possible and no later than February 1, 2008 for applicants for Erasmus Mundus scholarships. Your chances of being recommended for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship critically depend upon your ability to prove your English language proficiency in time.

5) I come from a country where English is one of the official languages. Am I also required to provide a proof of my English proficiency?
Applicants belonging to one of the following categories may request an exemption from the requirements for evidence of English language proficiency:

- Native speakers of English: those who have received their primary and secondary education in English in one of the following countries - Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or United States or any country where English is the only official language.
- Applicants who have spent a minimum of two consecutive academic years of study at a recognized English-language university or institution of higher education in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States within the last five years, or who have earned their full undergraduate degree in an English language program at a university in an EU country, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland or Turkey within the last five years, may be considered exempt from standardized language testing at the discretion of the departmental admissions committee.

6) Is a proof of Spanish proficiency also required for applicants who whish to pursue the study track including IBEI?
No, it is not a requirement, however, it would be good for us to see your knowledge in Spanish in advance. Courses at IBEI will be available in English as well, but those students who speak Spanish too will have a wider variety of courses to choose from.

7) What is an 'official translation' of my degrees and transcripts?
You will find guidelines on this at http://www.ceu.hu/admissions_apply.html#4.

8) What is an 'official' recommendation letter like?
Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation assessing the applicant’s ability to conduct graduate-level work, and potential for a successful academic or professional career. The letters of recommendation must be completed by faculty members, job supervisors - people most familiar with the applicant's professional and/or academic abilities and character. Referees are requested to complete these letters in English or, if written in another language, to attach an English-language translation.

When completed, each letter of recommendation (with translation, where needed) should be sealed in an envelope, with the referee's signature across the seal, and enclosed with the application documents package or, if this is not feasible, mailed directly to the CEU Admissions Office. Applications will not be considered without these letters.

Financial aspects:

1) How much is the tuition fee? How do I pay it?
The tuition fees are 11,000 EUR/academic year, therefore 22,000 EUR in total for the two years. Tuition is paid in two instalments per year and candidates are instructed on how to make a payment to the Mundus MAPP consortium in the letter of acceptance they receive in case they are offered a place in the program.
Erasmus Mundus scholarship recipients are also required to pay a tuition fee which, pursuant to the students' authorisation, is automatically deducted from their Erasmus Mundus scholarship.

2) If I am not awarded an Erasmus Mundus scholarship is there alternative funding available at the partner universities?
There is no alternative funding available at the partner universities for Mundus MAPP. However, students may wish to apply to the consortium universities' regular MA programs as well. Please note that for these MA programs separate application procedures are applicable.

3) How much is the tuition fee for European students?
For European students the tuition fees are the same as for any other applicant, i.e. 11,000 EUR/academic year and 22,000 EUR in total for the two years.
