Karim Knio is Lecturer in Politics at the International Institute of Social Studies in The Hague. He completed his B.A in Political Science at the American University of Beirut and his M.A and PhD in International Political Economy at the University of Birmingham (UK). In 2000, he worked as an intern at the United Nations' Headquarters in New York where he assisted his unit (Department of Political Affairs (DPA), Africa II Division) with the organization of the Millennium Summit. His research focuses on the political economy of governance, regionalism and trade with a focus on the Euro-Mediterranean region. He also has interests in Industrial Relations, EU democracy promotion programs and Lebanese politics.
